A Busy Week for Williston PD: Calls, Arrests, and Traffic Enforcement

During the seven-day period, Williston PD handled 685 calls for service. These calls range from routine welfare checks and suspicious activity to more serious incidents requiring immediate police response. While not every call results in enforcement action, each one requires time, attention, and resources from officers working around the clock.

Officers made 30 arrests throughout the week. Of those, 7 were felony arrests, while 21 were for misdemeanors. An additional 2 arrests were related to infractions, and there were no arrests categorized as “other.” These figures reflect ongoing enforcement efforts aimed at keeping repeat offenders in check while addressing a wide range of criminal activity.

Traffic safety remained a major focus. Police conducted 121 traffic stops, issuing 59 citations and 20 written warnings. The remaining stops involved verbal warnings or checks where no enforcement action was needed. Traffic stops often serve as a preventative measure, helping reduce accidents and address issues such as impaired driving, speeding, or vehicle violations before they lead to something more serious.

Speaking of accidents, 41 traffic crashes were reported during the week. Thankfully, 39 of those were non-injury accidents, with only 2 resulting in injuries. While winter driving conditions can contribute to an increase in crashes, the low number of injury accidents is encouraging.

Finally, officers completed 95 reports, documenting incidents, investigations, and follow-ups that are critical for accountability and future case work.
