Williston North Dakota’s Sips Joins National Spotlight at Medora’s 250th America Celebration
Anytime a local business from western North Dakota steps into a spotlight on a bigger stage, it’s worth taking notice. That’s exactly the case with Sips of Williston, which has been selected as one of just 20 food trucks invited to participate in the grand opening celebration of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora.

Williston’s Sips Joins Historic Medora Celebration as Nation Marks 250 Years and Presidential Library Opening
The event, taking place July 1–5 in Chimney Park, is shaping up to be one of the most significant gatherings the region has seen in years. It coincides with both the 4th of July holiday and the 250th anniversary of the United States. Organizers are expecting massive crowds, with estimates ranging from 9,000 to 15,000 attendees, including high-profile guests, VIPs, and national leadership.
According to owner Hayley Melby, excitement has been building for months. Sips was first contacted in March and officially selected a short time later as one of the participating vendors. Of all the food trucks in the region, Sips is the only one representing the Williston area.
The preparation has been extensive, with additional requirements including elevated insurance coverage, safety protocols, and logistical planning far beyond a typical event. Despite the challenges, Melby says the opportunity is an honor and a milestone moment for the business.
“We are so excited to be in Medora this week,” she shared. “Not only is it the 4th of July, it’s the nation’s 250th birthday and the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.”

Sips Brings Patriotic Twist to Medora Celebration as Presidential Attendance Adds Historic Spotlight
Sips will be serving its full menu of signature drinks and waffles, along with a special themed item created for the celebration: the “Red, White, and Berry Waffle Fries.” The dish features fresh berries, marshmallow fluff, and homemade whipped cream—a festive nod to the patriotic atmosphere.
Beyond the food, the event itself carries historic weight. President Donald Trump is expected to be in Medora for the opening announcement, and there has even been discussion of attendance by multiple former presidents, making the gathering even more notable.

For Melby, the event also carries personal meaning. Medora is a place tied to childhood memories spent with her great-grandparents attending the Medora Musical. Returning now as a business owner adds a full-circle moment to the experience.
With live music, entertainment, and food vendors from across the state, the week promises to be a showcase of North Dakota culture on a national stage—and Sips from Williston will be right in the middle of it.
