
Driving, Crime, and Calls for Help: Williston North Dakota’s November Police Stats Revealed
November is in the books, and the Williston Police Department had another busy month. With thousands of calls for service, hundreds of traffic stops, and a wide range of incidents handled, the numbers paint a clear picture of just how active the department was throughout the month.

According to the WPD, officers responded to a total of 2,863 calls for service in Williston. Of those, 357 were officer-initiated, while 2,506 came from citizens, highlighting the community’s ongoing reliance on law enforcement support. The most common call type was traffic stops, which topped the list at 718. Other frequent calls included 125 assistance requests, 120 follow-ups, 103 welfare checks, and 85 accidental or abandoned 911 hang-ups.

Traffic enforcement continued to be a major focus. Officers conducted 718 traffic stops, issuing 329 citations and 87 written warnings. These traffic contacts not only help keep roadways safe but also often lead to additional enforcement actions or investigations.
In terms of casework, officers completed 459 reports, reflecting the wide variety of incidents requiring documentation and follow-up.
Arrests for the month totaled 164, broken down into 34 felony arrests, 120 misdemeanors, and 10 infractions. Some of the most common arrest categories included:
Driving Under Suspension — 41 arrests
Driving Under the Influence — 34 arrests
Marijuana Possession — 13 arrests
The department also reported an average response time of 5 minutes and 5 seconds, measured from when dispatch receives a call to when the first unit arrives on scene. This includes both emergency and non-emergency responses.
Overall, November showcased the continued hard work and dedication of the Williston Police Department. Whether responding to community calls, conducting traffic enforcement, or handling criminal investigations, officers remained busy around the clock to keep Williston safe.
