Williston Students Can Now Earn Degrees Without Leaving Home
Williston State College has expanded its Degree Bridge program through new partnerships with Minot State University and Valley City State University, increasing opportunities for students to earn bachelor’s degrees without leaving Williston.
The expansion builds on existing partnerships with Dickinson State University and Mayville State University. The Degree Bridge program uses a co-matriculation model, allowing students to begin at Williston State College while working toward a bachelor’s degree through partner institutions.
Officials said the program aligns coursework, advising, and resources so students can complete associate and bachelor’s degrees in a streamlined and cost-effective way while remaining in their home community.
Through the partnership with Minot State University, students can pursue degrees in psychology, addiction studies, social work, corporate fitness and wellness management, and exercise science and rehabilitation.
The addition of Valley City State University also provides a pathway to a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. The program also offers endorsements in early childhood education, kindergarten, special education, and English language learners, along with certificates in middle school education, reading, and STEM education.

Students typically complete their first two years at Williston State College before transitioning to upper-level coursework through partner institutions, often while continuing to live and work in Williston.
