The Williston Basin School District #7 School Board is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat following the resignation of board member Corey Swint on July 13.

Board members voted to appoint a qualified individual to serve the remainder of the current term through June 30, 2027. The final year of the term, from July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2028, will be filled through the regular election process. The appointment will be made by the board, and no public vote will be held, consistent with district procedures for midterm vacancies.

Applicants must meet state qualifications, including being a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, a North Dakota resident, and having lived within the district for at least 30 days prior to appointment. All required application materials must be completed, signed, and submitted by the stated deadline.

Completed application materials must be submitted by 4 p.m. Aug. 3. Applications will be distributed to board members for review by Aug. 4 ahead of the selection process.

The board is scheduled to make the appointment during a special meeting set for Aug. 6. The selected candidate will serve from the date of appointment through June 30, 2027 and will immediately assume the responsibilities of the position.
