A Thermal Drone Led Officers Straight To A Stabbing Suspect On The West Side
A 27-year-old man was arrested after a stabbing early July 11 in western Williston, according to police.
Officers responded about 4:16 a.m. to the 3700 block of Seventh Street West following reports of a person with multiple stab wounds and a suspect fleeing on foot. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with apparent stab injuries and immediately provided aid until the Williston Fire Department arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
After interviewing witnesses, officers learned the suspect had run into an open field on the city’s west side. A search perimeter was established, and the Williston Police Department’s drone team was deployed. Using thermal imaging, operators identified a heat signature in a roadside ditch, leading officers to the suspect.
Allen Matthew Pierre II was taken into custody without incident. Investigators recovered a knife believed to have been used in the assault.
Pierre was transported to the Williams County Correctional Center and is charged with attempted murder. Authorities said additional charges may be considered as the investigation continues.
