The Williston Basin Military Affairs Committee is celebrating steady progress toward completing a powerful new tribute to fallen service members and their families. The upcoming Patriot Gate monument, set at the entrance of Hillside Memory Gardens in Williston, is shaping up to be a place of honor, reflection, and remembrance.

Progress Paved by Generosity: Patriot Gate Nears Completion in Williston

Thanks to the unwavering generosity of local donors, much of the hard work is already done. The site has been fully paved and landscaped, the flagpole proudly stands in place, and the two finished bronze statues—a kneeling Gold Star mother and a soldier beside her—are scheduled for delivery soon. Another nice touch expected by the end of summer will be the installation of benches and the placement of service seals.

A Place to Reflect: Williston’s Patriot Gate Aims to Honor Generations of Sacrifice

“This will be a multi-generational space for veterans, families, and anyone who wants to reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedoms,” said committee volunteer Brandon Delvo. “We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far. It’s clear our community believes in this mission. We’re on track, but we still have a little ways to go.”

Launched in 2022, the Patriot Gate project has already earned strong community backing, bolstered by the committee’s history of successful efforts—including the Freedom Monument in 2019 and the rededication of the Unknown Soldier memorial in 2021.
