Trish Arnold Wins DAISY Award At Williston Hospital

Sometimes the people who make the biggest difference are the ones who simply keep showing up.

That's certainly the case for Trish Arnold, who has been named the second DAISY Award recipient of 2026 at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston.

Arnold recently retired as an Employee Health RN, but retirement didn't keep her away for long. She returned to the hospital as a nurse supervisor, continuing to support staff, patients and the community she has served for years.

A Well-Deserved Honor

Arnold was nominated by a coworker who described her as a “constant source of support, guidance and compassion.”

Her nomination also praised the way she treats everyone she encounters, describing her as approachable, encouraging and respectful. Her years of experience, compassion and work ethic have made her an invaluable resource and mentor to those around her.

The nomination summed up her dedication by noting that, even after retirement, Arnold continues to give so much of herself to help the hospital run smoothly and ensure patients receive the best possible care.

That's quite a compliment, especially for someone who could have simply walked away and enjoyed retirement.

Instead, she came back.

Celebrating Extraordinary Nurses

The DAISY Award was created by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, whose family was inspired by the extraordinary care nurses provided him during his illness.

Nurses can be nominated by patients, families and coworkers, with recipients selected by a committee at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston.

Honorees receive a certificate recognizing them as an “Extraordinary Nurse,” along with a DAISY Award pin and a sculpture called A Healer's Touch.

For Arnold, the award recognizes not only the work she's already done, but the fact that she's still willing to give her time and experience to others.
