Community Comes Together on June 15th to Change Lives – Be Part of Braxton Heller’s Williston Benefit
On April 3rd, 2023, Braxton Heller's life took an unexpected turn when he was involved in a tragic accident. Since then, he has been on a challenging road to recovery, undergoing multiple medical procedures and treatments. He was flown to the Craig Rehabilitation Center in Englewood Colorado on May 17th. In order to support Braxton's ongoing medical costs and rehabilitation, a benefit event has been organized on June 15th at the fairgrounds. This event aims to bring the community together and raise funds for Braxton's medical account. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a free-will donation meal, participate in a silent auction, indulge in a bake sale, and witness a live auction. All donations and proceeds will go directly toward Braxton's medical expenses.
The Journey So Far:
Following the accident, Braxton was urgently transported to CHI Williston, where medical professionals did everything they could to stabilize him. Due to the severity of his condition, he was then airlifted to Minot Trinity Hospital. However, his treatment there was short-lived as he needed further specialized care. Braxton was subsequently transferred to Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota, where he spent nine days in the Intensive Care Unit.
Braxton's injuries included a collapsed lung, for which he required a chest tube to assist in inflating his right lung. To assess his condition, he underwent numerous diagnostic tests such as MRI scans, CT scans, EEGs, and X-rays. Additionally, he relied on an NG feeding tube through his nose initially, which was later replaced by a GJ-tube.
The Road to Recovery:
Braxton currently faces the challenges of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). As his brain gradually heals and awakens, he will need to undergo intensive rehabilitation to relearn basic skills such as walking, talking, eating, and dressing. The extent and duration of his rehabilitation remain uncertain at this stage. Braxton's journey to recovery could span months to years, requiring significant support from medical professionals, therapists, and his community.
Supporting Braxton & His Family:
The benefit event on June 15th aims to rally support for Braxton's recovery. All the funds raised during this event will be deposited into his medical account at Gate City Bank to cover ongoing medical expenses. By attending the event, you can contribute to Braxton's rehabilitation and ensure that financial burdens do not hinder his progress.
