Reaching a record mark with its largest student enrollment during its 63-year history, Williston State College (WSC) has 1,260 students. The college now reflects a stunning 20.6% rise over the previous spring semester, according to the Spring 2025 census.

The enrollment, which soared to record-breaking numbers for Fall 2024, shows that WSC is positioned to not only educate students but also help the community, state, and region with a highly trained workforce to help staffing needs. Something that they have long pushed for with initiatives as well as agreements with other colleges around the state.

The number of full-time students from this semester compared to last jumped up by a staggering 25.2%. That number also underscores WSC's increasing attention to a larger student base; international student enrollment surged by 32.8%, and transfer student enrollment experienced a 38.1% increase. This number is expected to increase with the recent push to bring in full-time degree and certificate students from Canada.

President of WSC, Dr. Bernell Hirning, notes for this success the institution's strategic outreach, improved marketing initiatives, and solid leadership.

"This amazing expansion comes from committed faculty and staff cooperating to help student success," Dr. Hirning stated. "We are dedicated not only to drawing in fresh students but also to making sure they flourish while at WSC."
