WSC Foundation Secures $20k for Healthcare Training Expansion
In a move that promises to bolster the regional healthcare workforce, the Williston State College (WSC) Foundation has received a $20,000 grant from Pembina Pipeline Corporation to support the development of its new Healthcare Training Facility. This funding aims to address critical shortages of healthcare professionals across western North Dakota and northeastern Montana.
The $36.6 million facility will focus on training programs in high-demand fields, including Certified Medical Assistant, Paramedic, and Behavioral Health. With the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration designating the area as a Healthcare Professional Shortage Area, this facility is poised to make a meaningful impact by offering accessible, state-of-the-art training for students eager to start healthcare careers close to home.
“We are incredibly excited about this grant from Pembina Pipeline Corporation,” said Hunter Berg, Executive Director of the WSC Foundation. “Their support is a major boost to our efforts in creating opportunities for healthcare education that will positively impact the lives of countless individuals in our region. This project is a game-changer for the future of healthcare in the Williston Basin.”
According to WSC President Dr. Bernell Hirning, the facility represents a long-term investment not only in education but in the health and well-being of the Williston Basin community. “This project is more than just a building; it’s a vital investment in the health and future of our region. With the support of partners like Pembina, we are positioning Williston to be a regional leader in healthcare education and workforce development.”

As construction of the facility progresses, the WSC Foundation’s collaboration with corporate and community partners continues to make strides in addressing the pressing need for skilled healthcare professionals in this underserved area.
