Busy Winter Week Keeps Williston Police Responding to Hundreds of Calls and Incidents

During the reporting period, Williston PD responded to 636 calls for service. These calls range from routine checks and minor disturbances to more serious situations requiring immediate police attention. While not every call results in enforcement action, each one requires time, staffing, and careful response from officers working around the clock.

Officers made 21 arrests throughout the week. Of those, 4 were felony arrests, 16 were misdemeanors, and 1 fell into another category. These arrests reflect ongoing efforts to address criminal activity while maintaining public safety across Williston.

Traffic enforcement also remained a priority. Police conducted 109 traffic stops, resulting in 52 citations and 18 written warnings. Traffic stops are often used not only for enforcement, but also to correct unsafe driving behaviors and prevent more serious incidents down the road, especially important during icy and snow-covered conditions common this time of year.

The department also responded to 34 traffic accidents during the week. Fortunately, 29 of those were non-injury crashes, while 5 involved injuries. With winter driving conditions creating slick roads and reduced visibility, police continue to urge drivers to slow down, leave extra space, and remain alert behind the wheel.

Overall, the weekly report underscores the consistent workload faced by Williston police officers and the wide range of situations they handle daily. As the community moves deeper into winter, officials remind residents to drive cautiously, report suspicious activity, and do their part to help keep Williston safe.
