A Conversation About Medical Marijuana

The evening is designed to give veterans a straightforward and relaxed opportunity to learn about North Dakota’s medical marijuana program, including how the program works, who may qualify, and where veterans can find reliable answers to their questions.

The event will feature an educational presentation led by Jake Mittelsteadt of Pure Dakota Health. His presentation will cover medical marijuana and the potential benefits it may offer qualifying patients, along with common questions and concerns veterans may have.

One topic that will also be addressed is the relationship between medical marijuana and gun ownership, allowing attendees to learn more and ask questions.

According to the event information, the state's medical marijuana program can be fairly easy for veterans who receive care through the VA. Veterans with a qualifying condition may be able to use existing VA documentation when applying for a medical marijuana card, without a separate doctor's visit.

Help With the Next Steps

Following the presentation, Mittelsteadt will be available to help attendees get signed up for a virtual doctor visit.

Veterans who attend the event will also be eligible for a special offer. Virtual appointments will be available for $100 for veterans who attend, with the discount valid for 30 days following the event.

The event is free, and registration is encouraged but not required. Walk-ins are welcome.

Veterans who register through Eventbrite will also have a chance to receive one of five free virtual appointments with a certifying health care provider. The five recipients will be selected randomly. Registration is encouraged and you here to start the process.

For veterans who have questions about medical marijuana, the September 24 event offers an opportunity to sit down, enjoy a meal, and get information in a local setting.

Feeding the Nation: A Look at North Dakota’s Most Valuable Crops

Farming is the backbone of America—98% of the nation’s 2 million farms are family-run, feeding an average of 166 people each year. Though agriculture makes up just 1% of the U.S. economy, it’s rich in tradition and diversity, with more African American, Hispanic, and Latino farmers than ever before. One in four are new to the field, and many have served in the military.
In 2022, U.S. farm exports hit a record $191 billion. According to Stacker, here’s how North Dakota’s top crops ranked by value—and why the Peace Garden State punches above its weight in feeding the world.
