Williams County Vector Control began conducting ground adulticide treatments in Trenton and Williston Spray Blocks 3 and 7 on June 24th and will continue until June.

Should weather conditions remain favorable, the district will apply the adulticide near sunset.

If you see Vector Control trucks fogging, they ask that the public to maintain a distance of at least 300 feet.

According to the official release: Vector Control will be using the DeltaGard, which contains the active ingredient deltamethrin, for the treatment. DeltaGard is a product approved for use in residential areas by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The department also released reminders on how to avoid mosquito bites:

  • Take extra precautions when spending time outdoors during the hours from dusk to dawn during the summer months.
  • Wearing long-sleeved, tight-knit shirts and long pants, limiting time outdoors during these times, and using a mosquito repellent such as DEET, Picardin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus are good actions to take to prevent bites.
  • Residents can help prevent mosquito repopulation by eliminating standing water on their property.
