I want to take a minute to introduce you to Gideon Anderson. This 8-year-old is from Grenora, and he and his family could use some prayers and positive thoughts. Gideon was outside in the backyard where he was using a fire pit to burn some papers. When a bottle of lighter fluid he was holding blew up in his hands, he was holding it at the time. His garments were consumed by the flames. Burns cover almost ninety percent of his body.

It is estimated that the burns are third-degree. After being transferred to Williston, where he was intubated, he was then transported by helicopter to a burn facility, which is where he is receiving treatment at the present time. As you can imagine, those close to him have a lot to deal with. So in North Dakota form, folks stepped up and organized a benefit!

Friends and family have organized a benefit for Gideon, and you're invited! It is set for Friday, July 14 hosted by the Grenora Volunteer Fire Department. It's just over a month away, so you can mark it on your calendar now. Supper will start at 5:00 pm and donations will be accepted on a voluntary basis. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the kids! The menu will include barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as salad, lemonade, and bars. If you want more information about the benefit, contact Justin Hanson at 701-641-8289. A donation website is also available if you are unable to attend. Click here to see Gideon's progress, or to make a donation. See you in Grenora on Friday, July 14!

On a side note, if you know of any benefits coming up, feel free to email me! We want to make sure we help as many people as possible. My email is scott.haugen@townsquaremedia.com.
