North Dakota’s Ice Fishing Countdown: Fish Houses Must Be Off Williams County Lakes by March 15!
In the coming days, you will notice the days getting longer, the snowbanks getting shorter, and, if you are an ice fisherman, the ice under your feet becoming a little less... trustworthy as the seasons begin to change in our neck of the woods. You heard it correctly, guys, it is once again that time of year! On all of the fish homes on the local lakes that are currently vacant, the annual "eviction notice" has been served, and the deadline for making a decision is March 15.

Don't Panic—Your Fishing Days Aren’t Over!
Now, before you rush out of the garage panicking and strapping your ice house to a sled in the dead of night, slow down! You can still fish - you just need to take your ice shack off the lake when you leave for the day. Think of it as transitioning from winter real estate to a daily rental situation.
Keep It Clean: A Little Effort Goes a Long Way!
And while we’re at it, we need to talk about keeping our parks and lakes looking sharp. If you see any leftover bait containers, pop cans, or the occasional abandoned glove or garbage, do the neighborly thing—pick it up! Nobody wants to come back and find all that stuff staring back at them.
So, let’s work together to make sure that our local parks stay beautiful, our fish stay happy, and our ice remains—well, let's not expect the ice to remain for very long. It's time to begin planning for spring fishing! Ultimately, spring is just sixteen days away!
