North Dakota Through Your Lens: Contest Offers Cash and Bragging Rights
If you’ve ever looked out across a golden wheat field at sunset or snapped a photo of a stubborn cow refusing to cooperate, here’s your chance to turn that moment into something a little more rewarding—like cold, hard cash.

The North Dakota Farm Bureau is once again inviting photographers from across the Peace Garden State to show off their skills in its annual photo contest. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just someone with a good eye and a smartphone, this is one opportunity you won’t want to miss.
Participants can submit up to three photos, one in each of three categories: animals, crop/landscape, and lifestyle. That means you can capture everything from a curious calf staring into your lens to rolling fields under a big North Dakota sky, to everyday life on the farm or ranch.
Simple Rules, Easy Entry—and a Shot at $300 Per Category
There are a few simple rules to keep in mind. Photos should not include watermarks, and entries must be submitted by September 1. To enter, email your photos to Joey Bailey at joey@ndfb.org, and don’t forget to clearly label which category each photo belongs in.
Now for the part everyone likes—the prizes. Each category winner will take home $300, which isn’t bad for something you may already have sitting in your camera roll.

One Grand Prize Winner Will Make a Lasting Impact
But wait, there’s more. A panel of judges will also select one overall winning image. That photo will be transformed into a printed canvas, with proceeds going toward the organization’s scholarship fund. So not only could you win bragging rights, but your work could also help support the next generation of North Dakota students.
North Dakota Offers It All
Let’s be honest—North Dakota isn’t short on picture-perfect moments. From dramatic skies to hardworking people and everything in between, inspiration is pretty much everywhere you look.
So whether you’re out in the field, on a back road, or just enjoying a quiet moment in your own backyard, keep that camera ready. That next snapshot might just be worth a few hundred dollars—and a whole lot of pride.
