Crews Will Fog Williston Neighborhoods Block By Block Through July 30

The Williams County Vector Control District announced it will conduct ground-based mosquito control treatments in several communities this week, weather permitting.

Truck-mounted ultra-low volume fogging is scheduled to take place near sunset on the following dates:

On July 27, crews will treat areas in Epping, Grenora, Ray, Springbrook and Trenton. On July 28, spraying will occur in Williston’s spray blocks 8, 9, 10 and 16. On July 29, crews will move to blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4, followed by blocks 6, 7, 11 and 12 on July 30.

Officials said the treatments will use DeltaGard, an insecticide containing deltamethrin that is approved for use in residential areas.

Residents are advised to keep a distance of at least 300 feet from vector control trucks while spraying is underway.

The district also encourages residents to take steps to reduce mosquito exposure, especially during peak activity times between dusk and dawn. Recommended precautions include wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, limiting time outdoors during evening hours, using insect repellents such as DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus, and eliminating standing water around homes.
