Uff, it makes me sick to write this today. I just caught a recall notice for my Ford Explorer that was posted on my vehicle's mobile app. Digging into it a little more, it's clear that it's not just mine either.

  • 2024 and 2025 Ford Bronco
  • 2025 Ford Explorer
  • 2024-2025 Ford Bronco

What Prompted The Recall

It is estimated that approximately 269 people are affected by the latest recall, and the percentage of those affected who have the defect is one hundred percent. According to the summary of the recall, this problem can result in the failure of the reverse gear or unexpected forward movement when the gear is in neutral or reverse. To me, that doesn't sound good at all!

What Is Ford Doing To Fix The Issue

In order to fix this problem, the transmission main control valve body will be replaced at no additional cost by the dealers. According to the information on the NHTSA website, letters to notify owners of these vehicles will be mailed out on May 5th.

If you own one of the affected models, watch your mailbox for that recall notice—or the NHTSA website to see if your vehicle is impacted. Nobody likes to deal with a recall, so this is a little better than discovering this problem the hard way. Hopefully, Ford gets this issue sorted quickly so we can all shift gears, literally, without any worry!

LOOK: Cool Car Features We Kind of Miss

Kids these days don't know what they're missing out on! But hey, let's be real, some of those old car features were pretty awesome. Yeah, they might've been a bit risky and even tried to kill us, but they made our rides feel way cooler.

LOOKS: Things You'd Find in Your Grandpa's Garage

Adventures were plentiful in the domain of your family's patriarch who saw no use for rules - unless he was the one making them. From rusty tools to a stack of filthy magazines, Grandpa's garage was a land of mystery and danger.
