There was plenty of excitement in Williston today as Rocky’s Burgers, Franks & Fries officially cut the ribbon on its new location, giving local diners another place to grab a burger, hot dog, fresh cut fries and a shake.

The Williston restaurant is the third location for the Sartwell family, bringing the popular fast casual concept to town.

From a Family Idea to Rocky’s

The story behind Rocky’s starts with local restaurateur Mike Sartwell, who had an empty restaurant space on the north side of Minot.

Rather than filling it with another franchised restaurant, Sartwell’s family encouraged him to create something of their own. The result was Rocky’s Burgers, Franks & Fries, a restaurant built around the food Mike had been cooking for his family for years.

The name Rocky comes from Mike’s childhood nickname, a name many of his friends and family still use today.

Burgers, Franks and Plenty of Fries

Rocky’s menu focuses on fresh ingredients and food that can be served quickly without sacrificing quality.

The restaurant serves 100% fresh, never frozen ground steak burgers, along with all beef franks imported from the Bronx in New York City. There are also fresh cut fries, homemade chili, grilled chicken breast sandwiches and hand spun shakes.

The Williston location offers a comfortable dining room along with a drive thru, online ordering and delivery.

The new restaurant occupies the building that previously housed Slim Chickens, which has now been transformed into Rocky’s Burgers, Franks & Fries.

For the Sartwell family, bringing Rocky’s to Williston is another step in growing a restaurant concept that started with a family idea and a desire to serve the kind of food they already loved.

And judging by the excitement surrounding today's ribbon cutting, Williston is ready to give Rocky’s a try.
