A person in North Dakota has tragically died after consuming recalled microdosing candies, according to the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services. North Dakota Monitor reported the death is currently under investigation by state agencies, the poison control center, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA had issued a recall on June 28 for certain Prophet Premium Blends Diamond Shruumz products, including microdosing chocolate bars, infused cones, and micro-dose and mega-dose/extreme gummies. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has noted that these products advertise a proprietary blend of mushrooms.

Product Recall

Michelle Dethloff, director of the infectious diseases and epidemiology unit, emphasized the importance of public awareness. Despite the recall, these products might still be available for purchase online, in stores selling hemp-derived products, or in smoke and vape shops. While the products are not illegal in North Dakota, they are neither licensed nor regulated by the state.
