Brake Trouble Prompts Major Ford Recall: What North Dakota Owners Should Know
It pains me to write this because I’m a Ford fan through and through—but our job is to keep you informed and, more importantly, safe.
Earlier this week, Ford issued a recall affecting approximately 270,000 vehicles across the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that these vehicles could be at risk for a loss of brake function—an issue that significantly increases the potential for crashes.

Brake Line Issue in 2022–2024 Ford Navigator and Expedition Models Could Lead to Fluid Leaks and Reduced Stopping Power
According to the NHTSA, the problem stems from the front brake lines potentially coming into contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. Over time, this contact could cause damage to the brake lines, resulting in brake fluid leaks. When brake fluid leaks, it can reduce the vehicle’s ability to slow down or stop, creating a hazardous situation for drivers and others on the road. The recall affects certain 2022-2024 model Navigator and Expedition vehicles, NHTSA added.
Ford to Offer Free Repairs for Affected Vehicles; Recall Notices Coming by May 26
Ford dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and, if necessary, replace both the front brake lines and the air cleaner outlet pipe—completely free of charge to the vehicle owner. The company is taking action quickly to address the issue, and owners of affected vehicles can expect to receive official recall notification letters by May 26.
So, North Dakota friends, if you drive a Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator, it’s a good idea to check whether your vehicle is part of this recall. Even if you haven’t noticed any issues, catching a problem early could prevent a serious accident down the road.
Ford fans or not, safety always comes first.
