Closed since spring, Kota Ray Dam will be reopening on Memorial Day weekend.

There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 22 at 4pm commemorating the occasion.

New attractions include a youth pedal park, redesigned campsites, and contemporary comfort stations that are under final stages of construction.

The redesigned park, which will feature activities later this summer, includes a new lakeside lawn-chair amphitheater.

Online bookings for the new campsites will open for dates between May 23 and October 31, 2025, at 8:30 am on May 19, 2025.

Blacktail Dam's upgrading and enhancement construction will start mid-May and should last until 2026.

Among the new conveniences are improved comfort stations, walking paths, group campsites, and more.

The park will remain open in restricted capacity for both recreation activities throughout construction.

Those who visit the park will still be able to utilize the boat ramp, while the path to get there may vary.

As work advances, on-site signs will offer instructions to keep those who visit informed on changes.

The par 3 golf course will be completely accessible during the construction, while the playground, fish cleaning station, and shower house will not be closed to the public.

Ten electric campsites will be available in the beach area, and rustic campsites will be open on the north side of the park and close to the park entrance.

Starting on May 19th, online camping reservations for time slots between May 23rd and October 31st will be available.
