Williston N.D. - One day after the Williams County Commission unanimously voted to shut down the power on the $1.9 billion facility near Trenton, the Mountrail Williams Electric Cooperative is reportedly refusing to comply with the counties order.

Along with refusal to comply, MEWC has also served commission president Corey Hanson with papers seeking a petition for declaratory judgment.

MWEC sent the following to KEYZ when asked for comment. “Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative’s responsibility to serve our members is not taken lightly. We are in the process of seeking the court’s determination on next steps to ensure the appropriate process is followed. As a power supplier we cannot take a position, rather, will focus on our commitment to delivering safe and reliable power to our members.”

As the situation develops will will keep you up to date.
