WILLISTON, N.D. – Williston State College is pleased to announce William “Bill” Triplett as its new Head Women’s Basketball Coach for the upcoming 2020-2021 season.

From Lambert, Montana,
Triplett is a three-time state champion high school basketball coach whose
coaching career spans back to 1980.

From 2007 to 2017, Triplett also
coached women’s basketball and softball at Minot State University before returning
to the Montana coaching circuit.

“Coach Triplett
brings a well-established network of relationships with high school and college
coaches to his duties at WSC,” explained Dr. John Miller, President. “His
contacts will help our women’s basketball program on the front end with
recruiting talent from Montana and North Dakota, and his coaching connections
in NCAA DII will help move talented players to the next level when their time
playing for the Tetons comes to an end.”

While COVID-19
impacts recruiting, Triplett’s time in both Montana and North Dakota has helped
bridge that gap.

"I’ve been on the phone nearly 20 hours a day for
four days now,” said Triplett. “There are still players out there that are
looking.”

While Triplett cannot bring potential players to
campus for a visit, he has been working hard to show them campus through digital
tours.

"That's the biggest key to recruiting, I think,
is to get the kid on campus, make them feel comfortable,” emphasized Triplett.
“Show them around, introduce them to a teacher, introduce them to the other
coaches in other sports.”

Triplett and his wife, Kara, head coach of the Richey-Lambert boys basketball team, will be based out of Lambert, Montana so he will commute to Williston. “I can't wait to get everyone together and start working on skill development,” stated Triplett. “I love working with players whose passion for the game matches mine and they want to get better every day. Basketball is a great game and I want to bring a winning attitude and high work ethic to our locker room. Getting better every day is vitally important and to do that, it means changing some things and also learning new things. I can't wait to get started.”
