Williston Police Department Child Falling from Window Update

Williston, ND - Williston PD has provided a tragedy update about a minor who fell off of a balcony in Williston last friday.

On May 5, 2023, at approximately 11:01 am, the Williston Police Department responded to the 4800 Block of 11th Ave W for a report of a child falling from a balcony.

After further investigation, it was discovered that the child had fallen through a screen on an open window.

The child fell from a fourth-floor apartment window, approximately 40 feet. The Williston Police Department has been notified that the child, a two-year-old male juvenile, has tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Currently, the investigation is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.

The Williston Police Department would like to urge our community, as the weather starts getting warmer, please use caution with children playing near open windows.

A screen is not a safety barrier to prevent anyone from falling through an open window.

As with any incident involving crimes or accidents, names of minors will be withheld.

Currently, there is a heavy law enforcement presence on scene investigating the incident. The status of the child is not being released at this time.
