If you’ve recently come home to find a brightly colored door tag fluttering in the breeze, don’t worry—you’re not in trouble. The City of Williston Code Compliance Team has been making the rounds, and they’re not handing out warnings or citations. Instead, they’re dropping off friendly reminders to help keep our neighborhoods looking sharp.

Why Your Lawn Got Tagged (And Why It’s Actually a Good Thing!)

These tags aren’t an indication that your lawn is on some “most wanted” list. Quite the opposite! They're more like a neighborly nudge from the city that says, “Hey, we’re all in this together—let’s keep Williston looking great!”

So what’s on the tag? Glad you asked. It says:

Help Keep Our Neighborhood Beautiful! Friendly Reminder!

“We appreciate your help in keeping our community looking great! Regular lawn care helps keep our city safe, clean and inviting for everyone.”

Then it encourages residents to check for a few simple things:

  • Grass cut below 8 inches

  • Weeds trimmed along sidewalks, fences, and alleyways

  • Brush and debris removed

And if life has thrown you a curveball and lawn maintenance isn’t in the cards right now? They get it. The tag even includes a note that says help is available if you need it.

The bottom line? If your yard were actually in violation, you’d be getting more than a cheerful door hanger. Think less “Code Red” and more “Friendly PSA.”

So grab your mower, wave to the neighbors, and give a little love to your lawn. A tidy yard isn’t just about looks—it’s part of what makes Williston a great place to live.
