Game 1 vs South East Twins

The Williston Keybirds opened pool play in the 40th annual TruWealth Financial tournament with a 12-8 win over the South East Twins Thursday morning at Ardeen Aafedt Stadium.

Jaxon Jeanotte led the way, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring three runs while also tossing 1.2 scoreless innings in relief. Justin Irgens added a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Eden Mortenson doubled and scored twice.

Connor Ekblad and Chase Collings chipped in with RBIs, and Micrea Heller and Brody Smith each crossed the plate to fuel Williston’s offensive outburst.

Ashton Nickoloff earned the win on the mound, striking out one over three innings.

The Keybirds moved to 1-0 in pool play with the victory.

Game 2 vs Saskatoon

Keybirds dropped their second game of Day 1 in the 40th annual TruWealth Financial tournament Thursday night, falling 8-4 to the Saskatoon Marlins at Ardeen Aafedt Stadium.

Jaxon Jeanotte and Connor Ekblad each drove in runs for the Keybirds, with Jeanotte, Max Heen, and Eden Mortenson all collecting hits. Jeanotte and Chase Collings also scored twice.

Garret Solberg started on the mound, striking out two in 5.1 innings, while Kallon Delorme closed it out with 1.2 innings of relief. Despite the solid effort, defensive miscues and timely hits from the Marlins proved too much to overcome as the Keybirds moved to 1-1 in pool play.
