
Deputy-Involved Shooting Under Investigation Following Domestic Violence Call Near Williston North Dakota
A deputy-involved shooting is under investigation following a domestic violence call early Monday morning in Williams County.
According to the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:29 a.m. on March 2, 2026, to the 14200 block of Highway 2 after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm. The call prompted an immediate law enforcement response due to the potential danger to those involved.

Suspect Fatally Wounded After Armed Encounter; Deputies and Others Transported to Hospital
When deputies arrived at the scene, they encountered an armed suspect. During the encounter, deputies discharged their firearms, striking the suspect in both the leg and torso. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the moments leading up to the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation.
After the suspect was wounded, deputies provided immediate life-saving measures and requested emergency medical services. The suspect was transported to CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Williston, where he was later pronounced deceased.
In addition to the suspect, two other individuals involved in the domestic disturbance were injured prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Both individuals were also transported to CHI St. Alexius Hospital and are currently receiving medical treatment. Their conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
No deputies were injured during the incident.

As is standard procedure in deputy-involved shootings, the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation has assumed responsibility for investigating the use of force by law enforcement. Meanwhile, the Williams County Sheriff’s Office continues its separate investigation into the domestic violence incident that led to the original call for service.
