Police Respond To Gunfire At Williston Apartment Complex
A late-night report of gunfire at a Williston apartment complex led to a large police response and the arrest of a local man early Sunday morning.
According to the Williston Police Department, officers were called around 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2026, after multiple people reported hearing shots fired inside a building in the 3000 block of 31st Avenue West.
When officers arrived, they began a methodical search of the property, working through hallways and eventually into the basement parking garage to determine where the shots had come from and whether anyone had been hurt. In the garage, officers found a vehicle that had been struck several times by gunfire.
Investigators also recovered numerous spent shell casings in the area. Despite the evidence of gunfire, no victims were located and no injuries were reported.
While still on scene, officers spoke with the owner of the damaged vehicle, who told them he had been nearby when the shots were fired. Surveillance footage from the building helped investigators identify both a suspect and a vehicle involved. Based on prior contact with law enforcement, officers identified the suspect as Damon Christopher Granado, 45, of Williston.
Police later tracked the vehicle to a residence in the 1500 block of 50th Street West. Detectives secured a search warrant, and additional resources, including the Northwest Regional SWAT Team and Northwest Crisis Negotiations were called in due to the nature of the situation.
Authorities said Granado was taken into custody without incident at about 3:23 a.m. on Feb. 22. He was booked into the Williams County Correctional Facility and is facing a felony charge of reckless endangerment.

Police thanked assisting agencies for their role in resolving the incident safely.
