Snow Joke! Western North Dakota Braces for Another Round of Snow
Hold onto your snow shovels, and make sure you have the snowblower gassed up folks—winter is playing the encore we didn’t ask for! After last weekend’s heavy, wet snow, western North Dakota is preparing for round two. Mother Nature seems to have double-booked us, with the National Weather Service in Bismarck warning of more snow on the way.
While we are indeed a hearty bunch on this part of the world, we just got rested up from shoveling and possibly need to get ready for more winter exercise.
Snowfall Mystery: 4+ Inches Expected with Gusty Winds
While the exact snowfall totals remain a bit of a mystery, meteorologists are confident much of the state will see at least 4 inches of fresh powder. The highest chances for significant snowfall are across the north-central region and the Turtle Mountains. Add winds expected to gust between 20 and 50 MPH, and you’ve got a recipe for hazardous driving conditions and outdoor plans that will freeze faster than your windshield wiper fluid. This is all a guess, and models can and do change.
This means moderate impacts are likely, so it’s time to dig out the winter boots, gas up the snowblower, and maybe cancel finishing up that holiday decorating you optimistically planned. Need a silver lining? At least it’s not 20 below yet!
As always, keep an eye on the latest updates and travel advisories before you head out. And if you’ve ever wondered how many layers of clothing it takes to resemble a human marshmallow, now might be your chance to find out.
Stay warm, North Dakota—we’ve got this (and a lot of shoveling to do).
