Williston, ND (KEYZ) It's time to roll-up your sleeves Williston! Donors are needed urgently for next week's community blood drive.

"The summer months are hard," says Teresa Johnson, Donor Recruiter for Vitalant Blood Services.  "They are always a very difficult time for us.  We're in a critical shortage for our blood types, and if you can come in and donate, we would love to have you donate."

Johnson says there are still many appointment slots available to donate blood next Monday and Tuesday, August 8 and 9, at the Armory in downtown Williston.

"We do have about 10 appointments left on Monday and then on Tuesday is where we really need some help.  We're about 50 percent filled right now."

Johnson tells News Radio this summer's theme for Vitalant blood drives is "Power Up," "Power Up Your Donation," affording you the opportunity to donate a blood product other than whole blood.

"It's not only fantastic that you come in to donate blood but if you want to take the next step forward and you want to power up your donation even more, make sure you ask us if you qualify to donate a double red cell, or a power red."
