North Dakota Check Your Pantry! Quaker Oats Issues Massive Recall

The Quaker Oats Company last month announced the recall of granola bars and granola cereals listed below due to the possibility of Salmonella contamination.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause infections in young children, the elderly, frail, and others with compromised immune systems, which can be serious and occasionally fatal.

When a healthy person contracts salmonella, they frequently have fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. The diarrhea may even be bloody. Rarely, a Salmonella infection can cause the bacteria to enter the bloodstream and cause more serious conditions like endocarditis, arthritis, and arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms).

The products listed below are sold throughout the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and Saipan. Consumers should check their pantries for any of the products listed below and dispose of them. To date, Quaker has received no confirmed reports of illness related to the products covered by this recall.
