North Dakota Pulled $140,000 From Financial Firms In 2026 Settlements
North Dakota has received $140,000 in financial settlements this year through multi-state enforcement actions, with the funds directed to support investor education and fraud prevention efforts, state officials said.
The North Dakota Insurance and Securities Department said the settlements stem from its ongoing work monitoring financial organizations and holding companies accountable for unfair or unreasonable practices. The funds have been deposited into the state’s Investor Education and Technology Fund.
“We’re looking out for you,” Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread said. “We’re working to keep your investments safe and to hold bad actors accountable. The Fund will use these settlement dollars strategically to prevent fraud and safeguard North Dakotans.”
According to the department, three settlements have resulted in payments to North Dakota so far in 2026. LPL Financial and Stifel each paid $20,000 in February, while Edward Jones paid $100,000 in June.
Officials said any consumers directly affected by the enforcement actions have been notified.

The Investor Education and Technology Fund supports public education and outreach related to financial services and investing. The fund is primarily financed through enforcement actions and settlements secured by the department.
