Burke County Becomes Fourth County To Report Measles
North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) notes the first known measles case in Burke County, the fourth county in the state affected.
The state now has 28 confirmed cases of measles since May 2.
Preliminary information suggests that the individual may have contracted the measles during one of several trips to Williams County.
Early vaccination is not advised in Burke, Cass, or Grand Forks counties at present. There is no indication of community spread in those places, according to investigations.
As fresh data comes in, HHS will update immunization recommendations for counties.
For those living in or visiting Williams County, HHS still advises early and accelerated MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination due to confirmed community transmission.
The public might have been exposed at the following sites in surrounding Divide County.
Lindsey's Grocery Store, 211 Main St. S., Crosby, N.D. on Monday, May 26, between 3 and 5:30 p.m.
On Monday, May 26 between 3:20 and 5:45 p.m., Dollar General, 1108 Fourth St. S.E., Crosby, N.D.
Those who were born before 1957 or vaccinated against measles or otherwise regarded as immune because of natural exposure do not have to quarantine. Still, they should keep an eye on things for 21 days following exposure.

Those who have not been vaccinated against measles should monitor for symptoms and quarantine for 21 days after exposure.
