Armstrong Issues Executive Order Lifting Restrictions On Propane Deliveries
BISMARCK, N.D. – As the state suffers dangerously frigid temperatures, Gov. Kelly Armstrong signed an executive order on Monday, February 17th, waiving hours of service requirements for drivers of commercial vehicles transporting propane and other petroleum products. Tonight's low in Bismarck is projected to plunge to roughly 40 below zero.
"The lack of adequate heating fuel poses an immediate risk to public health, safety, and welfare," the order notes, as North Dakota faces market conditions impacted by severe seasonal weather and increased heating fuel demands. Propane supplies and other petroleum products are extremely low.
With the waiver for the hours of service limits, carriers will be able to carry propane as well as other petroleum products with the impending increase in consumer needs and state standards.
The executive order, which will last for 30 days, goes into effect today. This order does not effect any other road safety or vehicle compliance regulation.

The order can be viewed here.
