Dryland Events Kick Things Off

Kicking things off on July 16, the Dryland Crops and Horticulture Tour is tailor-made for western North Dakota’s unique growing conditions. Get ready for updates straight from the folks doing the fieldwork — from crop management strategies to new horticulture trials. If you’ve ever wondered, “What’s the best way to handle this dry spell?” or “How can I boost my yields this season?” — you’re bound to walk away with ideas you can put into practice before your boots hit the porch.

But don’t run off after the last research plot on the 16th! Stick around for the community dinner that follows. There’s nothing quite like breaking bread (or passing the potato salad) with fellow producers and the researchers who are right there in the soil with you.

All Eyes On Irrigation To Wrap Things Up

Then, on July 17, pack up and head to the Nesson Valley Irrigated Site for the Irrigated Crops Tour. This is your chance to see how NDSU is pushing the boundaries on irrigated production strategies. The in-field demonstrations and real-time trials are a must-see for anyone looking to squeeze every bit of potential from their irrigated acres. And yes, there’s lunch after the tour, because no good farm meeting is complete without food!

From tried-and-true tips to cutting-edge research, these Field Days have something for everyone. So bring your questions, bring your appetite, and bring that neighbor who always says they’re “too busy.” We’ll see you in the field!

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
