New U.S. Travel Warnings Could Put North Dakota Travelers on Alert

If you're planning to travel soon and want to go somewhere unique, far away, and/or overseas, check where the U.S. State Department has recently issued travel advisories.

The State Department lists places people should avoid and assigns each advisory a danger level (Levels 1-4). Below, we've listed the most dangerous places to travel to in 2026.

We reported these updates earlier this year, but a few places were added, elevated and/or extended this month. These are the newest additions/updates to the list. All level 4 advisories are reviewed and either renewed or extended every 6 months.

These areas are prone to the following: unrest, crime, kidnapping or hostage taking, poor health conditions, and terrorism. Level 4 is the worst and most dangerous advisory with the most life-threatening risks. The U.S. government may have very limited or no ability to help, including during an emergency. U.S. citizens do not travel to the country, to or leave as soon as it is safe to do so.
