Over the weekend, we took a scenic drive across the state, and it’s official—fall is on its way! The trees are already beginning to change colors, painting the landscape with vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow.

As I drove, I couldn’t help but reflect on why fall is the best season of the year, especially here in North Dakota. Mark your calendars, because the magic officially begins on September 22!

First off, let’s talk about the bugs. Or rather, the lack of them! After a summer of swatting, and scratching, fall finally brings some sweet relief. You can step outside without the constant buzz of mosquitoes in your ear or the fear of being a feast for the local insect population. It’s like Mother Nature’s way of saying, “You’ve earned this break.”

Next up, hunting season kicks off! For many in North Dakota, fall means trading in the fishing pole for a rifle or bow. It’s a time-honored tradition that brings together friends and family for weekends filled with adventure, camaraderie, and hopefully, a few good stories to tell around the fire.

And let’s not forget about those fall colors! North Dakota may be known for its wide-open spaces, but come fall, those spaces are filled with the most breathtaking displays of foliage. Every turn in the road offers a new, stunning view worthy of a postcard.

Lastly, fall means one thing for sports fans: football season! Whether you’re cheering on your favorite high school team or rooting for the big leagues, there’s something special about the crisp air and the roar of the crowd that makes football in the fall unforgettable.

So, welcome fall with open arms! It’s the best time of the year in North Dakota, and it’s just getting started.
