Luckily, Williams County is stepping up to the plate, going full force with its mosquito spraying efforts to keep those pesky biters at bay. Hats off to the hardworking folks at Williams County Vector Control for making our sunny season a little less itchy!

But while the county is doing its part, there’s still plenty we can do right in our own backyards. Believe it or not, mosquitoes don’t need a swamp to breed—just a splash. In fact, they only need about a bottle cap full of water to lay their eggs. Yes, you read that right. A bottle cap.

So, let’s team up and show these mosquitoes they picked the wrong state to mess with. Here’s how you can help:

  • Dump standing water from flower pots, birdbaths, buckets, and kiddie pools
  • Clean those gutters and check your yard for sneaky puddles
  • Flip or cover tires, tarps, and other rain-catching items
  • Refresh pet water bowls—your furry friends will thank you too!

Remember: No standing water = fewer mosquitoes. It's a simple equation that makes a big difference.

So as we welcome sunny skies and long evenings back to North Dakota, let’s make sure we don’t let the rainy days leave a bite behind. Every little action helps protect your neighborhood—and your ankles.

If you want to learn more about how the county is fighting the bite, check out the Williams County Vector Control website and stay in the know!
