Hey Hunters, Don’t Forget Your Equipment and Surveys
And just like that, January is coming to and end! Now is the time to keep in mind what to do when hunting in North Dakota with the month coming to a close. Here is a friendly reminder from ND Game and Fish about equipment used for hunting. Hunters are reminded that now is the time to take down tree stands, blinds, steps, and other individualized things by Tuesday, January 31. That's tomorrow!
If you choose to leave things in place, or just don't want to take any of these things down by tomorrow, all of your belongings will be removed by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. Department officials will remove and seize them, and all of these items will be treated as abandoned property. Considering tree stands run around $200.00 to $400.00, and blind prices can go sky high, you could be out some hefty dollars if you do not remove these items.
The department also reminds sportsmen to complete surveys from the hunting seasons from the previous year. According to North Dakota Game and Fish, it is crucial to complete the surveys because they enable the state to better understand North Dakota's ecological destiny beyond the hunting season. The website where the survey is located is also full of information including the mid-winter waterfowl survey and the 2023 spring turkey season preview. There are also some seasonal shortcuts for spring turkey lottery, mountain lion, otter and bobcat harvest tracking and a lot more.
