Quilts Bring Warmth And Comfort To Families In Need
American State Bank & Trust Company has donated a collection of handmade quilts to the Family Crisis Shelter, continuing its community outreach efforts in northwestern North Dakota.
The quilts were purchased at the recent St. Joseph’s Mardi Gras Auction and will be distributed to families served by the shelter. The items are intended to provide both physical warmth and emotional comfort to individuals experiencing crisis situations.
The donation was described as part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting local organizations that serve vulnerable populations.
“At ASB, we believe in giving back to the community in meaningful ways,” said Dave Hanson, President and CEO. “We are pleased to donate these beautiful handmade quilts in hopes that they bring a sense of comfort to those who need it most.”
The Family Crisis Shelter operates as a 24-hour, seven day-a-week crisis intervention program. Services are provided to victims and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault across a tri-county area in northwestern North Dakota. The organization offers emergency shelter, advocacy, and support resources.
Shelter officials said donations such as quilts can carry added meaning for those receiving them during difficult circumstances.
“We are incredibly grateful for ASB’s continued support and for always thinking of our organization and the work we do,” said Executive Director Marie Collins. “Quilts are more than just blankets; they represent comfort, safety, and care. One of my most cherished gifts is a quilt my grandmother made for me, and I know these quilts will become treasured keepsakes for the survivors who receive them.”
The quilts are expected to be distributed to shelter residents as part of ongoing care and support services.
