Brain Health Conference Coming To New Town, North Dakota This Month

A three-day Brain Health Conference will bring together health professionals, caregivers and community members Aug. 12–14 in New Town to focus on issues ranging from dementia to addiction and brain injury.

The event, hosted by Elbowoods Memorial Health Center, will be held at 4 Bears Casino and Lodge and is open to all ages.

Organizers say the conference will highlight a range of topics, including Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injuries, prevention strategies and caregiving. Presentations will feature speakers such as Casey Venturini, founder of Doing Dementia; Dr. Bill Rosen on acquired brain injury; and Dr. Spero Manson on dementia in Native communities. Other sessions will address healthy brain habits, addiction recovery and caregiver support.

North Dakota Bans Kratom Sales Starting August 5, 2025

The schedule includes an opening session from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 in the ballroom, followed by a full day of programming from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and a final session from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 14, both held at The Edge within the venue.

Breakout sessions on Aug. 13 will be led by regional programs including diabetes services, victim services, public health, aging services and Native Connections.
