North Dakota Forecast: Back-to-Back Snow Systems Could Impact Holiday Travel
Just as many in North Dakota begin preparing for Easter weekend celebrations, Mother Nature may have other plans in store. It’s not exactly the kind of holiday surprise anyone is hoping for, but forecasters are keeping a close eye on two separate weather systems that could bring accumulating snow to much of the region this week.
Round One Moves In on Wednesday
The first system is expected to move into the area starting Wednesday and continuing through Thursday. Current projections suggest that most of North Dakota could see anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of snowfall. While that may not seem like a major storm by winter standards, it’s certainly enough to create slick roads and less-than-ideal travel conditions—especially as many people begin heading out for Easter gatherings.

Brace Yourself For A Second One Moving In On Friday
Unfortunately, that may just be the beginning. A second system is expected to arrive late Friday and continue into Saturday, and this one has the potential to pack a bit more punch. Early indications show the possibility of shovelable snow, with totals reaching at least 4 inches in some areas. While exact amounts and locations could still shift, this second round may have a greater impact on travel and outdoor plans heading into the weekend.

Stay Alert: Changing Road Conditions Could Impact Easter Travel
With two rounds of snow in the forecast, it’s a good idea to stay weather-aware over the next several days. Road conditions could change quickly, particularly during early morning and evening hours when temperatures fluctuate. If you’re planning to travel for Easter weekend, consider giving yourself extra time, checking road reports, and preparing for winter-like driving conditions—even as we move deeper into spring.
It’s a tough reminder that in North Dakota, winter doesn’t always follow the calendar.
