The Williston Police Department continues to work hard at keeping crime at bay in the city known as the Western Star. Williston Police Chief David Peterson released the department's annual report, and it was another busy year for the department.

Chief Peterson reported that the department handled more than 36,000 calls last year While that number seems large, it is. But it's about 3000 calls less than 2024. Chief Peterson pointed out the detective division handled 1300 cases, ranging from thefts to gun and weapons calls.

Williston police used their three K9 units to seize thousands of dollars in drugs and took several firearms off our streets.

Here is what was removed from Williston's streets, according to the report:

  • Cocaine: 14.80 grams
  • Fentanyl: 1128 pills
  • Firearms: 19
  • Hash: 13 grams
  • Heroin: 16 grams
  • Marijuana: 748.66 grams
  • Meth: 2035 grams
  • Paraphernalia Items: 1323
  • US Currency: $33181.00

With the number of drugs seized, the department reported 21 overdoses and 6 drug-related deaths. Peterson also reported that Narcan was administered just 1 time in 2024.

Traffic accidents for 2024 were up from last year as well. There were 637 auto accidents in Williston last year, up from 608 in 2023.
