Williston’s New Sloulin Elementary Is Done And Opens August 12

Williston Basin School District 7 reached a major milestone this week as construction wrapped up on Sloulin Elementary School.

District officials said JE Dunn Construction formally turned over the keys to the new building, marking the end of a project that has been more than two years in the making. Crews will now shift focus to preparing classrooms, organizing materials and ensuring the school is ready to welcome students in the coming weeks.

The new facility stems from a $35 million bond referendum approved by voters with strong support, reflecting the community’s commitment to investing in local education. As the project moved forward, careful planning and favorable costs resulted in roughly $4.4 million in savings. District leaders say those funds will now be used to address deferred maintenance needs across existing schools.

The project brought together a wide range of contributors, including JLG Architects and numerous subcontractors and tradespeople who worked on the building from start to finish.

An open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Sloulin Elementary School is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 12. The ribbon cutting will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the school gym, with attendees asked to enter on the east side of the building.

A community open house will follow from 4 to 6:30 p.m., giving the public an opportunity to tour the new facility.
