Coyotes Kick Off 2025 Football Season Against Minot North

Now with the baseball season in the rearview mirror, it's time to take a look at the 2025 campaign for the Williston Coyote football team.

The Coyotes will start off their season with 4 non-conference games, which looks to be a lot more friendly than the gauntlet WHS endured last year against frequent trips against powerhouses out east.

Here is the 2025 Coyote Football Schedule:

Week 1: August 29th vs Minot North

Location: Legends Field

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 0-0

Last Matchup: None

The Coyotes get their first-ever crack against the Sentinels. With what has been seen over these past basketball and baseball seasons, this has the potential to be a new budding rivalry in North Dakota.

Week 2: September 5th vs Dickinson

Location: Legends Field

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 16 - 35

Last Matchup: Coyotes 6 - Mavericks 26 (2023)

After a year off of the rivalry, the WHS will welcome back a familiar foe that will be featuring a new name. The game will mark the first time that the Coyotes have met the Mavericks on the gridiron.

Week 3: September 12th @ Watford City

Location: Watford City Sports Complex

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 4-0

Last Matchup: Coyotes 12 - Wolves 0 (2023)

After last year featuring an all AAA schedule, fans will once again be treated to the Battle of the Bakken, which will be back for the 5th edition.

Week 4: September 19th @ Grand Forks Red River

Location: Cushman Field

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 2-7

Last Matchup: Coyotes 20 - Roughriders 24 (2023)

The Coyotes are looking to get their first win against the Roughriders since 2011; however, the dry spell in wins against Red River is largely due to the teams only playing twice over the last decade.

Week 5: September 26th vs Bismarck Legacy (Homecoming)

Location: Legends Field

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 2-8

Last Matchup: Coyotes 14 - Sabers 45 (2024)

The first conference game of the year will also bring with it a ton of pomp and circumstance. The Coyotes will be able to build some momentum with their four non-conference games to propel them to the homecoming win and beat the Sabers for the first time since 2023.

Week 6: October 3rd vs Bismarck Century

Location: Legends Field

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 9-49

Last Matchup: Coyotes 13 - Patriots 49 (2024)

The Patriots are riding a 22-game winning streak against the Coyotes heading into this one. Likely the toughest test of the season, Williston will have an uphill battle to knock off Century, who is looking to compete atop the WDA.

Week 7: October 10th @ Mandan

Location: Starion Sports Complex

Kickoff: 6:30 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 25-25

Last Matchup: Coyotes 14 - Braves 41 (2024)

While the all-time record has these two deadlocked at 25 games apiece, Mandan has won the last 8 in a row. The Braves will also be in a bit of a rebuilding mode; however, they will by no means be a team to look past.

Week 8: October 17th @ Bismarck High

Location: Bismarck Community Bowl

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 6-43

Last Matchup: Coyotes 0 - Demons 50 (2024)

No team in WHS football history has defeated the Coyotes as frequently as the Demons have. Another trip back to 2002 is needed to see the last time that BHS has fallen to the 'Yotes.

Week 9: October 24th vs Minot

Location: Legends Field

Kickoff: 7:00 pm CST.

All-time head-to-head record: 11-40

Last Matchup: Coyotes 6 - Magicians 45 (2024)

As it should be, the final game of the year is against Minot, who will now be in their second year of adjustment to having the split with Minot North. The last time the Coyotes defeated the Magicians, it was during the last season that they made the playoffs in 2008.
