Psst Dummy, Take Your Mom and/or Wife To Band Day.
As Williston gets set for one of its most beloved traditions on Saturday, May 10th, a certain selection of residents in Williston may also forget the other day that the annual tradition falls upon this year, and that's Mother's Day.
A big highlight for 2025, according to organizers from the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Band Day Committee, is a special performance by the official drumline of the New York Giants NFL team, the G-Line. Renowned for their explosive displays, the G-Line is set to provide an additional kick to an already vibrant celebration.
Now in its 98th year, Band Day has strong roots in Williston history. Originally started in 1927, the celebration of music, community pride, and small-town spirit has grown to be a cherished custom drawing together generations of people living and visiting.
The roster for this year promises an active, full day. Marching bands from all throughout the area will participate alongside vibrant procession floats honoring local companies and groups. Harmon Park will once more be the center of musical events; other events will be the Band Day Mile fun run, food and handicap vendors, the Williston High School Rodeo, the Basin Kruzers Classic Car Show, and dirt track races at Williston Basin Speedway.
For those who want to take in the parade but are not able to make it to the route, the Visit Williston Facebook page will have a live stream of all parade entrants, as well as commentary on the history of Band Day.
If that's not enough to entice you to come down and watch the parade, our very own Scott Haugen will be driving a convertible carrying Miss North Dakota 2025.

For more information about participating in or sponsoring Band Day, you can contact the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau at (701) 774-9041.
