Coyotes Eliminate Patriots in WDA Loser-out Action
The Coyotes kept their postseason dreams alive on Thursday with a 3-1 victory over the Bismarck Century Patriots in loser-out action at the WDA Conference Tournament, held at Rabon Field.
Behind a dominant pitching performance by senior Justin Irgens and timely hitting from a balanced lineup, the Coyotes played with poise and purpose in front of their home crowd.
Irgens pitched a seven-inning gem, allowing just one run on two hits, striking out three, and walking two.
Century's only run came early, as shortstop Cade Jundt crossed the plate in the top of the first. However, the Patriots’ offense quickly stalled, managing just two hits total and striking out three times against Irgens, who improved his command as the game wore on.
Williston's offense was steady as it goes, plating a run in each of the second, fourth, and sixth innings.
Six different players contributed to the Coyotes' order, recording hits. Brooks Bratlien added a clutch RBI pinch-hit single late in the game, giving the Coyotes some cushion heading into the final frame.
With the win, Williston advances to the first of two State Qualifiers at the WDA tournament.
Saturday's matchups:
05/24/25 12:00 pm Williston @ Jamestown
05/24/25 2:00 pm Bismarck @ Bismarck Legacy
05/24/25 5:00 pm Mandan @ Minot

With a win over Jamestown on Friday, the Coyotes will advance to the North Dakota State Tournament next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from Grand Forks.
