Tetons vs BSC Women's Basketball Pregame Primer

The Williston State Tetons look to make it two in a row at The Well today against Bismarck State College with a chance to extend their 6 game home win streak and keep pace in the Mon-Dak Conference.

Starting the evening off will be the Women's game, which tips off at 5:30 pm CST. The Tetons are looking to make it a season sweep against the Mystics following two wins in Bismarck.

Both games were highly contested, with the last matchup Williston State held on thanks to a defensive stop to take home a 60-58 win. .

Bismarck State comes into the game riding a three game win streak. The 12-8 Mystics (9-5 Mon-Dak) cold force a three way tie with Williston State and Dawson with a win.

BSC averaging 70.5 points per game while hitting 37% of their shots from the field, and 27.2% from beyond the arc.

Sydney Gustavsson leads the way in scoring, pouring in 20.1 points per game, with Ashton Kinnebrew (17.6 ppg), and Katherine Fox (10.7 ppg) also contribute to the Mystics offensive output.

Williston State comes into the game 15-7 (10-4 Mon-Dak) overall on the season, and are looking to make it two in a row and keep them at 9-1 in their last 10 games. The team is averaging 66 points per game, while shooting 42.4% overall and 28.8% from deep.

Tetons are led in scoring by Emily Kurkowsky with 16.2 points per game, and just outside of the the double digit club is fellow sophomore guard Hayley Macdonald (9.3 ppg).

Three things to watch for:

1. Points in the Paint: The Tetons have dynamic post players who fan fill in the scoring column, along with guards who can create for themselves. A big team effort to finish around the rim will be key to make it three straight against Bismarck State.

2. On Ball Pressure: It has been defense by committee to clamp down on the perimeter shooters for Bismarck State. The last time these two locked up, it was Canzas Hisbadhorse who shone locking down the Mystics late.

3. Finding Options. Spurring the Tetons to their last win against the Mystics was Elizabeth Field who went 4-5 from beyond the ark. Either Field or someone else is going to have to have a breakout game as BSC will most likely be face guarding Kurkowski to limit her offensive output.
